My journey

Turquoise and silver have always been my favorites since I was little. I can thank my grandmother and an aunt who gave me turquoise jewelry when I was a child. Those were rings and pendant stones. But when I started wearing earrings I found my jewelry of choice. I still loved gemstones but also fell in love with the diversity of earrings - seed beads, metal beads, wooden, ceramic, glass and various other organic materials. After my first visit to a bead store in a nearby town in 1991 I tried my hand at making earrings. Then I spent a year in Fairbanks, AK and was turned onto this local bead and fur trading store. I had alot of fun learning new techniques and working with new materials. Over the years I made some pairs for a friend or two but it was mostly just something fun I did for myself. Fast forward through the years to 2023 when my creative streak just kept nagging at me to come back to the surface. I have carved relief designs into wood before and felt like I wanted to do that on a larger scale. I tried many times and my husband even bought me many starter tools. I just could not find the spark. 2025 brought inspiration of a different sort – quite a few women I know, through their examples of genuine creativity, talent and individuality - reignited my love of making earrings. My absolute fav will always be a gorgeous gemstone set in a hand worked silver setting. But I also love those earrings I bought at a Pow Wow in Fairbanks or from a parking lot at a Dead show.

So, Mountain Sage Earrings began as my creative outlet based on a forgotten passion. I am going with the same spirit as those earrings of my past but with a more unique and elevated touch. I will not make anything I will not wear, so I hope you enjoy them too.

And I hope you find my simplified website refreshing. I have added some automated email generators but other than that I want you to focus on the earrings and not pop ups. I hope to add new pieces every month. I want to spend time on creating designs instead of learning how to work the algorithms, so please keep me in your favorites and keep following on FB, Instagram, or right here where I do have an email sign up list.
